Fox Sighting & Feeding the Animals

11/7/2024

Dear Morgandale Residents,

We wanted to inform you that
there have been recent sightings of a fox in the neighborhood that appears
unhealthy, is active during daylight hours, and shows little fear of people or
pets. The Pennsylvania Gaming Commission has been notified, and a representative
has provided some guidance to help ensure the safety of Residents and pets.

1.   The representative
said the fox may have Mange, which is a skin disease caused by mites, and it
commonly affects red foxes. Infected foxes are often spotted in daylight as
they struggle to find food and shelter due to their weakened state.

Please
avoid leaving out any food or water for the animals
, as this can encourage the fox to stay in
our area. Please secure your trash bags
and deposit them into the trash toters. We have had reports of Residents leaving garbage (bones, corn cobs) and pouring grease
along the wood line.

If you
notice the fox following you, do not engage. Simply turn and walk away calmly. Please inform all the Residents in your
home.

 Should
the fox display aggressive behavior or approach you in a concerning way, please
report it immediately to the Gaming Commission at 610-926-3136 for further
assistance.

Thank you for your cooperation in
helping to keep our community safe.

Sincerely,

Jill L. Geiger, CMCA, AMS, PCAM
