Good Afternoon Morgandale Homeowners
and Residents,
As we have seen this week,
meteorologists continue to study the weather models. It is likely we will
receive in the range of 6 to 10 inches however it could be more than 12 inches.
What does that mean to you folks,
here at Morgandale?
First, it is again likely the
Governor Shapiro will call at State of Emergency which officially restricts
unnecessary travel. With as much notice as we have had with this storm,
please take every precaution and prepare today, tomorrow and Saturday, today
being the more pleasant day to do so. The snow is expected to start
overnight from Saturday into Sunday with snow continuing throughout the day and
perhaps into Monday. A wintry mix is also possible.
Morgandale's maintenance staff will
begin snow removal on Sunday morning, making an effort to keep the Forty Foot
Road main entrance open, the entrances at Edwards and Dillon open as well as
one path around Morgandale Drive. Next court entrances will be open with
one path around the court. Keeping in mind there are 32 courts, this
will take some time, however repeated snow plowing of these primary areas will
occur throughout the day on Sunday. If you are a first responder,
medical or other essential worker or if you have a medical condition that
requires treatments, you need to contact me via email at [email protected].
Even if you did this in previous years, this information needs to be
updated now. Once the staff has gotten through the major snow event
itself, additional plowing of courts, possibly including parking spaces will
occur, then shoveling. Dumpsters, bikesheds and mailboxes will be
addressed at some point when it is feasible. If you have trash, please
put it out TODAY so that it can be picked up tomorrow by JP Mascaro. We
do not have pickups again until Monday and there is no guarantee this will be
feasible anyway. If you have a specific question, please email me
directly.
As for the dreaded power outages, we
sincerely hope this does not occur however 1/2 inch of ice can add
approximately 500 pounds of extra weight to a power line. If a power
failure occurs please dial PECO at 800-841-4141, agents are availalbe 24/7 with
fairly accurate and up to date automated information on when service will be
restored. Keep your phone and laptops and Ipads charged constantly.
If your power goes out determine if it is just your home, or look outside at
your court and other courts to see if street and interior lights are on.
Stay calm, unplug electronics to prevent power surge damage, keep fridge
and freezer doors closed, use flashlights (not candles) for light, while
reporting your power outage to PECO (who likely already knows). Do not
use dangerous heat sources like gas stoves or propane tanks for heat in your
home. There is great information on the internet about conserving water
for flushing toilets.
We hope this information is helpful.
Please know we are all in this together and together we will get through
this storm!
Best
regards, Carol V. Richard, CMCA, AMS, PCAM
